Ed Wolfe serves as Wolfe Research’s Managing Partner, a role he has held since he founded the firm in April 2008. During this period, he has directed the firm’s transition from a specialized boutique covering a single research vertical with ten employees to a research boutique and affiliated broker dealer with research, trading and banking capabilities in multiple verticals with over 160 employees and growing. From the firm’s inception through December 2013, Ed was also a senior analyst covering the Airfreight & Surface Transportation sector. He continues to remain a liaison and key relationship manager with many of the firm’s key institutional investor and corporate clientele.
Ed, along with the Executive and Operations Committees he chairs, oversees the day to day management of the firm. In addition, Ed focuses on recruiting exceptional new talent and on carefully developing and implementing the firm’s strategic growth trajectory.
Ed formed Wolfe Research, LLC in April 2008, after a distinguished ten-year career at Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. At Bear Stearns, Ed was a Senior Managing Director and a Senior Analyst in the equity research department. During 2013, his last year in the I.I. poll, Ed was voted to Institutional Investor magazine’s prestigious All America Research Team for the 14th consecutive year, including eight years in the number one spot.
Before arriving at Bear Stearns in 1999, Ed was a Vice President in the Equity Research departments at Deutsche Bank/BT Alex Brown and Schroder Wertheim. Prior to Wall Street, he served as a principal of Schweet Design, a privately held apparel and marketing firm. Armed with a law degree, Ed also worked as a litigator in both private practice and as a staff attorney for The Legal Aid Society in the Bronx. He earned a B.A. from Georgetown University and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where he was awarded the Joseph Crowley award for academic excellence and commitment to community service.
Currently, Ed serves on the Georgetown Wall Street Alliance Board and resides outside of New York with his wife and two children.
